10-Day Open Studio/Advanced Analysis with Brian Atyeo
June 10-19
Tuition: $1390 cdn.

Ten hard days of painting will appeal to artists who are currently working at least an intermediate level, or those who are looking for an intense painting experience. Brian will lead demonstrations throughout the workshop, focusing on deconstruction/reconstruction, paint surface and integrity, and how design elements and principles can be applied. One-on-one discussions and daily group critiques will also be held.

Surface Explorations with Anthony Steffes
June 29-July 3
Tuition: $595 cdn.

In Surface Explorations, Anthony shows just how far acrylic paint can be pushed. Different application techniques will be demonstrated, such as using additives, altering paint consistency, layering, and creating surface effects during and after applying the paint. Anthony will also teach how to create different textures using acrylic paint, including soft, smooth, rough, grooved and patterned.

During instructor-guided demonstrations, students will be shown how to bring what they have learned together in strong, design-based compositions. Design challenges will also be presented at the end of each demonstration. Students may work on these challenges or their own projects instead, and to further the learning experience, students will be provided with a variety of materials.

Collage and Experimentation with Ursula Reynolds
October 30-November 1
Tuition: $375 cdn.

In this largely participant-driven workshop, students will combine different collage and experimental methods. Water-based paint and inks will be used to create new and exciting work, and students should come with lots of reference material and a variety of papers to use for collage. Some supplies will be provided, but students are encouraged to share the materials they bring. As always, curiosity and enthusiasm are especially welcome.
